I love to gamble but because of early lessons in casino gambling, I don’t drink alcohol when I gamble and neither does any of the people I travel with except one. He is my age and looks about 15 years older than me or so we’re told. He is a professional gambler and one of the few that I’ve seen who is successful at it especially since he is a heavy drinker and a chain smoker. Still, I’ve seen him crash. I’ve been with him when we have boarded the plane and his wife refuses to speak to him because he’s lost more than she felt he could stand to lose and I’ve played craps with him when the pit bosses have looked at each other in doubt when he asks for another $10,000 in markers.
Do I think my friend has a gambling problem? Absolutely, when he isn’t winning! However, when he wins and has paid for small investment homes, cars and trips out of his winnings; no I don’t think so. The life of the professional gambler with so many ups and downs still is very unappealing to me because of the fact these gamblers live a tough life of uncertainty. You might like to play bingo game.
Gamblers indeed live and die hard but there’s one thing that many people don’t see when they look into the blood-streaked eyes of a gambler or when they talk with someone who is showing lines on their face way beyond their years. Many people don’t see what these gamblers have seen. They have lived a full life, met people from all walks of life, probably been spoiled beyond comprehension by the uk casinos who pamper them and that’s while their winning. What you don’t see when you look into the eyes of a true gambler is the sign that they were more than OK with their lives, even when they had gambled their last dollar. You don’t see the apprehension they experience as they were planning for another ride, looking for that next ‘sure thing’ or waiting on the next monster roll at the craps table. And you don’t realize that even when they are going for broke, they are loving every minute of it. |
